THE TEAM

JULIA PINER, LMT, PMH-C, SEP (in training)
Integral Somatic Bodyworker, Perinatal Specialist

I am originally from Birmingham, AL. I moved to Indianapolis for Massage Therapy School and graduated from Indiana Wellness College in 2020. Bodywork in COVID was a unique space as I chose to start my own business fresh out of school - combining bodywork with my work as a Birth and Postpartum Doula was an amazing journey.

As I worked more and more with people throughout massage sessions and families during their perinatal journey, I felt like I was ignoring the mind-body connection. I was massaging muscles, but feeling like there was more underneath the stressed muscles. I was supporting families through birth experiences that ranged from beautiful to traumatic or a mix of both, but then having nowhere to send them for additional support to process what had happened to their bodies. My passion started evolving - what if we got curious about helping discover the root problems behind the muscle tension, the postpartum depression, the anxiety, etc.

I shared this passion with a colleague, and then found myself connecting with Allie. She shared about Somatic Experiencing and that felt like the piece that tied everything together. A body-focused therapeutic approach to healing trauma. It felt like everything aligned in an unexpected, yet perfect timeline to started on the path to becoming a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner.

I have felt firsthand how the body keeps the score. After a car accident in 2016, among many injuries, I was diagnosed with “chronic lower back pain”. I just couldn’t accept that answer as the final diagnosis as I felt like there had to be more to it. I explored different modalities, researched, and found explanations that helped me understand emotional pain. I started learning to shift the narrative from asking “what is wrong with someone” to “what happened”.

While I will always feel a strong pull towards working with families in their perinatal journey from my background in Doula work, I  feel my trainings have led me to deepen my knowledge in a variety of areas. From finding less pain, to learning how to find your voice and advocate, to getting curious about learning the language of the body.

I hold the following licenses and credentials:

  • LMT, Licensed Massage Therapist (License #MT22007173)

  • PMH-C, Perinatal Mental Health Certification through Postpartum Support International

  • SEP, Somatic Experiencing® Practitioner *in training* (expected October 2026)

When I am outside of the studio, you will find me enjoying life with my husband, two little ones, and my fluffy Great Pyrenees. We own a Parkour gym in Avon that keeps our days exciting and busy! On calmer days, I love a good cup of coffee, puzzles, and nature.
